Mobile phone’s operating systems changes so fast these days. One day, we are experiencing an amazing operating system on a smart phone and the next thing we know, an update has just been released with new and better features that we didn’t knew could ever be possible.

Just recently, another version of the Android operating systems that are named after a specific dessert is released which is the Android 4.1, dubbed as the ‘Jelly Bean’. In the same way with every new version that comes out in the market, it is a modification of the previous version of the Android operating system.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Let us take a more specific look into how the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean makes improvements from its predecessor:

  • Ease in transition from the older Android version – The new user of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will not have a hard time in setting up and adding Google Accounts. These procedures can be done in a faster manner as compared with the earlier versions. Furthermore, this new operating system will sort of, guide the user with translucent tips that shows over the home screen as well as in the main menu. For new users, these tips will definitely be helpful.
  • Improved predictive text messaging – The predictive text messaging is much better in guessing the word that the user wants to use. It still has an edge over that of the iOS in iPhones due to its bar below the screen that shows the user the possible options based on the first few letters of the word that it has typed.
  • Smoother Web browsers – Users can have an easier way of switching between multiple screens by means of swiping.
  • Google Now – This is one important upgrade wherein users can get valuable information based on their location, email, search and calendar history. However, it still needs quite a bit more polishing to be able to perform its function well.
  • Offline voice dictation – This function works well even without an internet connection. By speaking to the device, it will type words in the screen. As of today, this function works only in the English language but we can certainly expect this feature to support other languages as well, soon enough.
  • Upgraded notifications – The notifications in the Jelly Bean operating system does more than just give notifications. Users can already perform basic functions from the notifications tray such as dial a number than you missed a call from, view an incoming email, or view Google+ updates.
  • Facebook integration – Users can now integrate their Facebook contacts into the phone’s address book. This is very helpful especially for those who utilize this social media in getting in touch with anyone.

With this latest version of the Android operating system, people can expect more improvements with the main functions such as the Voice Search, Android Beam, sharing and notifications. Overall performance is faster too. It is said to be not as revolutionary but it certainly has some things new from what they are used to.
